As you probably know, Taylor Brands are one of the highest-rated manufacturers of elite, innovative weaponry and tactical tools. Founded by Stewart Taylor in 1975, Taylor Brands has been designing, creating and producing high-quality hatchets, knives, and accessories since their commencement.

Like I noted above, this hatchet is a full-tang forged out of one solid piece of SK5 high carbon steel, coated with a black finish to reduce reflectivity and help prevent scratches. Just before the thick and fully operational pry bar, the nylon handle grips are attached with bolts.

The razor sharp blade with a deep saber grind on the cutting surface will chop through wood and even sheet metal cleanly, but given its short stature it is not very effective on tough materials that are best performed at farther range. The back spike of the reverse of the head is as strong as it is menacing, and it will cleanly smash through cinderblock and bury itself deeply into wood or walls. Weighing out to just less than 2 pounds, the SCAXE5 is a lightweight tactical tool that is comfortable to use as well as carry.

It is both a perfect emergency hatchet as well as a handy tool that can be used for chopping, digging, hammering, smashing, and is powerful enough to be used in excavation and breaching techniques. Its only real downfall is its size, but that can also contribute to its strength, so this tool turns out to be a win regardless.

United Cutlery UC2765 M48 Hawk Axe Review

Let’s take a closer look at this tactical axe created by a company known as United Cutlery. The M48 Hawk Axe, model number UC2765 is a fairly lightweight axe with a broad, upswept blade and an ultra-sharp spike edge.

The blade is forged from anodized AUS-6 stainless steel, finished with a scratch resistant black oxide coating, and then attached to the 30% reinforced nylon handle with three sturdy bolts. The handle doesn’t offer much in the way of a comfortable grip though there are non-slip grooves to keep it from flying out of your hands.

I recommend gloves when using. United Cutlery includes a limited warranty with their products, which will cover manufacture defects in the event something goes wrong. Also included with your purchase is a nylon sheath with the popular button-snap closure. This tactical tomahawk is perfect for beginners or professionals with a light workload; it may look menacing, but it is fairly tame in comparison to some other tactical tools on the market.

I would recommend the M48 Hawk axe to someone who wishes to use it for wood chopping, camping and outdoor activities, and minor excavation and breaching techniques.

The first thing that you’ll notice about this axe is its weight; the piece is slightly top-heavy. Regardless, it is still a substantial and sturdy tool. While not recommended for especially heavy-duty projects, this axe with make ordinary outdoors and camping activities a breeze.

There have been various complaints that I found regarding the quality of the materials, the most common being that the handle is prone to breaking where the tang ends. It seems this only occurs after extended, extreme use, but nevertheless that can be dangerous and debilitating. That being said, as long as you are not trying to rip through excessively tough or damaging materials, this axe can get you through your task.

It easily bites through sheet metal and boasts an intimidating spike edge, which can be useful in penetrating or smashing through tough materials. When combined, the two parts can make a useful breaching tool if you needed to get into a door or car, for example. The black oxide coating gives the anodized AUS-6 Stainless steel a sophisticated finish as well as reduces the glare and offers slight protection against scuffs and scratches.

The steel itself is corrosion resistant, and while it may not be the highest quality available it is definitely strong enough to stand up against almost any tactical job you put it against. The nylon sheath is reinforced by easy-close, easy-open snap closures and it gives you the ability to hook it onto your belt for quick carry making it equal parts protective and convenient. The second edge on the head is expertly contoured sharpened for cutting and hooking.

If I were giving my personal opinion, I would say I am not crazy about this tool. However, if you are mostly interested in the aesthetics or don’t have the need for an absurdly powerful tool, the United Cutlery M-48 is a highly recommended purchase. If you are looking for a handy device that will chop wood, dig holes, rip through sheet metal, or break through cars parts or doors, this tool will definitely get the job done.

I would also recommend it to those who are interested in throwing axes for sport or show. I suggest you refraining from putting it up against extreme wear and tear, as the handle has a tendency to break, but with proper use and maintenance this axe will stay functional.

The anodized AUS-6 stainless steel blade is attached to the 30% nylon handle with steel bolts and then coated with a black finish to reduce reflectivity and offer additional protective against deterioration. Like I mentioned, this axe may not be THE best, but it is absolutely a quality tool for the low price that you pay for it.

Today I’m reviewing a well-known tomahawk created by one of the world’s most trusted brands: the SW671 Extraction and Evasion Tomahawk by Smith & Wesson. It is on the heavy size, making quick slashing and throwing difficult, but that highlights the effectiveness and strength that it possesses.

One of the more rugged tomahawks I’ve seen, this covert and powerful tool can handle everything from tearing through cars and doors to basic woodcutting. The sheath offers secure carry and easy extraction, which makes it very convenient but the weight of the tool makes carrying it on your belt for long periods of time impractical. This is a review of the Estwing EBTA Black Eagle 27 oz. Tomahawk. Let me begin by stating that Estwing products are known to be heavy-duty, and this tactical tomahawk is just that, plus it includes the shock resistant grip welded to the handle.

Proudly made in the USA and drop forged out of one solid piece of steel, the Black Eagle is perfect for outdoorsmen, professionals, and military teams alike. Its lightweight design makes it easy to carry, and it is perfectly balanced for precision control. Don’t let it’s size fool you, however, this Tomahawk style axe is not only physically powerful but also versatile; it can be used for breaching, cutting, digging, excavation, extraction operations, and more.

It includes a nylon sheath, which, while not being very practical because it does not offer an attachment for your belt, does offer satisfactory protection for the blade during storage and carry. I’ve outlined important stats and information below.

The tool itself, however, is formidable. I’d like to point out the unique hole-in-the-head design that it sports, which offers users a lighter head and quicker strokes. As I mentioned above, the axe is forged out of one piece of 1055 carbon steel and has Estwing’s famous patented shock resistant handle grip permanently fixed to the end.

It is brilliantly embossed with the Estwing logo on the handle that, combined with the lustrous black finish, gives this tool an attractive and appealing look. The tomahawk has a traditional spade head with spike end, but what is so notable about this end is its strength. It has phenomenal penetration abilities, but its most remarkable quality is its capacity to smash even the toughest materials. It will go cleanly through cinder blocks, metal, plywood, and more!

While not so efficient in traditional lumber chopping or splitting wood cleanly, this axe is great for breaching and breaking down materials, as well as for throwing, hacking, digging, hammering and more. American Tomahawk LaGana Vietnam Tomahawk (VTAC) Review

This is a real American classic, the LaGana Vietnam Tactical Tomahawk by American Tomahawk Company. Peter LaGana created this tried and true design in 1966 for the US Military in the Vietnam War. Revived again in 2001 by Andy Prisco and LaGana, this tomahawk design has proved reliable and functional time and time again.

Though the materials have changed over the years, the long-established design featuring a slim handle and a unique axe head with a reverse pick has remained. This tomahawk is still used by the US Army today, which I think speaks volumes about its superiority.

The blade is sharp enough to cut through harsh materials and still thin enough to maintain precision. Aesthetically, this weapon is sleek and lustrous with its all black design. Take a look at the specs on this tool:

To begin, let me just say that this axe is nearly indestructible. The head is drop forged from ultra tough carbon steel and the ST nylon handle is hydraulically pressed into the head, making it nearly impossible to destroy.

As far as the practical design goes, the blade has a slim, narrow design that features multiple hardened cutting edges, including a 3-edge poll and sharpened backside.

The handle is, as I mentioned above, made of highly durable modified nylon and boasts finger grooves and treads to ensure a secure grip.

To be honest, the only real downfalls I can find on this tomahawk are that the handle gets slippery and hard to grasp when wet, and I find it to be a little short in length. Besides that, the blade is tough, resilient, and exceptionally sharp.

The VTAC’s smaller, lighter nature allows for easy carry and wielding, so soldiers find them incredibly practical and easy to transport on their person. It’s unique reverse pick design allows you to use it as more than just a hatchet, and will come in handy in almost any situation, emergency or leisure.

Anytime you talk about a tactical tomahawk, you have to mention the VTAC. It’s a timeless American classic! The only changes that have been made to this nearly flawless axe have been improvements. It’s sleek, refined, tough, pliant, and precise.

Granted, it could see a few more improvements, such as a slightly longer handle, more rugged handle that gives the user better reach as well as a steadier grip wet or dry. However, as far as tactical weaponry goes, this tomahawk is certainly in the top 10. With its drop forged 1060 hardened steel head, you can be certain you will do damage to anything your blade bites into, without worrying about it suffering abuse or being destroyed.

The oval shape of the handle gives you a comfortable hold, and it is small enough to be secured into almost any belt. When you purchase an American Tomahawk LaGana Vietnam Tactical Tomahawk you are getting more than just a weapon, you are getting a multi-use practical tool that is simplistic yet effective. My review today is for the SOG Double Headed Tactical Tomahawk, product number F12-N. There is so much to say about this axe. Firstly, its medieval two-ended design is not only incredibly useful but also very cool in appearance. Today we are reviewing the Boker Tactical Plus Tomahook Axe. I was initially attracted to this axe because of its amazing versatility and durability, as well as it’s creative and slick hooked design. Almost every part of this axe can be used in a survival situation.
